There are a few thousand Darfur rebels out there, in remote areas of Darfur. They are far outnumbered by government backed Arab militias, and army and police forces. The campaign to drive non-Arab people from their villages is meant to deny the Darfur rebels food. This is working, as the rebels now must spend more of their time trying to find food.  The rebels have agreed to peace talks with the government, to start on the 23rd in Nigeria. The government says it is trying to rein in the Arab militias. Nigeria has agreed to sent 1,500 peacekeepers to Darfur.
