After heavy US pressure, Slovenia has cancelled an export license that would have sold fifty new 125mm smoothbore tank cannons to Syria. The Syrians wanted them to replace worn-out barrels in T-72 tanks. The US says that Syria has provided support for terrorist groups and hence should not be allowed to buy advanced or major weapon systems.--Stephen V Cole
