Yemen has received three of the four Polish-built NS-717 landing craft ordered in 1999. These can carry two tanks at speeds up to 15 knots. Each craft is 41 meters long and displaces 221 tons. Each ship is armed with one 23mm and two 12.7mm guns; a Ukrainian self-defense system is also to be added. Poland is also building a larger landing ship for Yemen able to carry five tanks.--Stephen V Cole
